The Story of Dhiinaa

This artwork was created by Taylor Edwards, Co-Founder and Lead Facilitator of Banksia Healing.

The artwork reflects the journey of the Banksia, known in Gamilaraay language as Dhiinaa.

The Dhiinaa is a powerful symbol of resilience, regeneration and renewal. Like many Australian native plants, the Banksia requires fire to grow. Its seed pods remain closed until exposed to intense heat, releasing new life into the earth.

This process mirrors the healing journey — the understanding that even after adversity, trauma and hardship, renewal can emerge. Stronger, grounded and deeply connected to culture, community and Country.

At Banksia Healing, this artwork represents healing, strength, identity, cultural continuity and the enduring wisdom passed through generations.

“Even after fire, new growth emerges.”
